CIRCULARPHOTONICS

Execution period
September 2024-December 2025
Overall project budget, managed by CDTI
EUR 2,077,933

Framed within the 2024 call of the Science and Innovation Missions Program, this project focuses on the research and development of avant-gard technologies for high-sensitivity sensors enabling an accurate detection of both contaminants and molecular chirality. It shares the goals of Mission 3 – Development and strengthening of an integrated photonic ecosystem in Spain and Mission 4 – Decontamination of ecosystems, with the ultimate purpose of improving environmental monitoring, agri-food safety and public health protection.

In the CIRCULARPHOTONICS project, SPARC collaborates with leading technology companies such as MIRAI GD All Services, LINZA ASIP Digital, FERTINAGRO BIOTECH, and RBZ Robot Design, in addition to research centers from different universities, including UVigo. SPARC’s main objectives in this project are:

Carry out an exhaustive study of the most suitable fluorescence techniques for integration into a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) for chirality quantification

Conceptualize the preliminary design of a PIC for fluorescence applications in the ultraviolet and visible range

Incorporate reference circuits into the PIC’s CAD design to guarantee the quality of the manufacturing processes and facilitate supervision of the production process
