Sparc Foundry has signed a collaboration agreement with the Regional Ministry of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training to launch an Intensive Dual Vocational Training (VET) program aimed at meeting the future workforce needs of the plant.
The signing ceremony was attended, on behalf of the Government of Galicia, by the Regional Minister of Education, Román Rodríguez, and the Director of Vocational Training, Eugenia Pérez. Representing Sparc Foundry were Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Francisco Soares and People & Operations Director Gutier Martínez. According to Soares, the agreement addresses the company’s need for qualified professionals to support the plant’s operations. In the upcoming academic year, 13 students will be enrolled in the program. However, “as we continue to grow, we are confident that this collaboration will expand and involve an even greater number of professionals.”
Román Rodríguez emphasized that “Galician vocational training is one of the hallmarks of what Galicia Calidade represents, thanks to the collaboration and trust of companies such as SPARC Foundry, which is leading from Vigo a national and European project for the production of photonic chips.”
This new Intensive Dual VET program, leading to a Higher Technician qualification in Electronic Maintenance, will be delivered at Ricardo Mella Institute in Vigo, one of the largest educational centers in Galicia, serving approximately 2,200 students.
